Quick Knits

This is a baby gift that I knitted up for Farah's almost-here arrival.  Can't wait to give it to her for her new little one.  It's a baby kimono sweater, a really quick and satisfying knit.  It striped a little oddly but, oh well.  He will probably fit into it for 2-3 days so it's no big loss :) 

I was reading my friend Amy's blog about her dark urges to rip apart sweaters and reuse yarn.  I too have had this urge ever since I saw on Etsy that people are actually doing this and selling the yarn.  WHA?!?  I have dark knitting secrets of my own, most notably lately being the one where I see something knitted that someone is wearing and I casually (or not) inspect it and the stitches to see if I could replicate the pattern just by looking at it.

It's always fun to reach a new level of nerd-itude. 

The Selfless (and naked) Knitter

So I mention in my profile that I like to knit and I never really blog about it because, up until TODAY, after over 3 years of knitting, I have never once made something for myself.  It sounds quite odd and now that I think about it, it really is.  It is, however, true.  The act of knitting itself is usually enough for me, and the thought that the people I make things for enjoy them is pretty much enough to keep me going.

Amy sucked Jen and me into doing a knit along with her called Calorimetry.  An easy short row hat-esque item for those of us who wear pony tails alot and who don't like that weird hat bump in the back.  Here's how mine turned out: 

Forgive the picture of the back of my head, it was 11 pm and I didn't think my face was up to the challenge.  Anyway, a super easy knit, used up some stash yarn (though I'm coveting the Noro that A and J used), and finished up over a few days and some good coffee and convo.  Found a nice old mother of pearl button to stitch on the back to hold it all together.

Something nice to keep the old melon warm during these winter months.  It was a good project for my knitting ADD affliction.  I seem to get bored of projects easily so this was a good choice.

Awwwwww...how cute is that?

Little G-man fell asleep with his face plastered to the bouncer this afternoon.  Being 6 months old is hard work!
