My own kid-music history is a little bizarre, however, once I got to thinking about it. Here is the music that we were subjected to as children:

Ok, now there's nothing wrong with a little Kenny, Jim, and Beach Boys now and then but I'm talking about EVERY car trip that I remember as a kid, this is what we listened to over and over. I know EVERY song on these three albums. I just think it's odd that this was what my parents chose and I sit through eensie weensie spider.
By the way, Bad Bad Leroy Brown was the baddest man in the whole "downtown" for the under 12 set.

Um I secretly like to sing along to "The Gambler". Don't tell. We had bad Barbara Mandrell albums, the Irish Rovers, Peter Paul and Mary (ok they are awesome I subject my kids to them too) and other easy listening junk.
We have the typical kid albums but some of my fav kid stuff to have the boys listen to is the old, old school stuff: Woody Guthrie, Ella Jenkins, and the like. We should do a kid mix swap!
Yikes, I'm with you girls on this one! I'll add the Oak Ridge Boys, Willie Nelson, Barry Manilow, Anne Murray and loads of Neil Diamond.
I used to pretend that my barbies were the Mandrell sisters. :)
Thanks for the road trip down memory lane.
I think I may have you all beat - The Statler Brothers. As in - I can sing EVERY WORD to "counting flowers on the wall" and other old time favorites.
Oddly, I find myself missing them sometimes...
I would LOVE a kid mix swap. I am sadly afraid I have nothing to offer you ladies (unless Sandra Boynton counts?!)
